Hi Beth, I frequently hear from people that have spent their time developing their craft and have had little or no time to spend on computer skills.

My first suggestion to these people is always the same. Find a basic computer skills class in your area and sign up. Online marketing involves a fair amount of time at the keyboard and before you invest in any other training, this is an inexpensive way to get comfortable with some of the basic computer skills you will need.

Many community clubs, at least around here, offer evening classes that are sufficient to teach you the basics of how to manage files, use compression programs such as Winzip and how work with basic programs such as notepad.

A computer is a tool, just like the tools you use in your cabinetry. You learned how to use those tools to produce your product. Now it is time to learn the basics of a new tool to promote your product. Getting comfortable with your computer will help make learning online marketing a whole lot easier and possibly even enjoyable.

To Your Success,
SherryD

Hi:

Thank you for the information here.

I already have a small list for my business.

However, I am a simple cabinet maker who would love to just be able to put my material on the web so the public could see my work.

I have spent five years doing nothing but refining my design and bench skills.

But, during that time, it seems others have been thinking about how to use the net to do who knows what. I don't understand what they are saying.

Anyway, I would just like to find a place where someone would start with step one and just show me how to do some simple web site that makes sense for my business.

Right now, I know where the on button is (I guess that's a switch) for my computer, and that's about it.
